Valders

Well, I went down to New Holstein today to take some pictures of May, Jan, Gird and Sky in class, but I got down there too late and everyone had already gone home :-P. Oh well, I go down there next week. Instead I went over to Valders and took some pictures of the Middle School and High School. This is where James (Jirayu) is going to school.

  1. Seeing the photo's of the baseball game makes me sad for I really missed going to the game. I would have been unhappy to see the Brewers lose whixh they did. I love Baseball more than I do football! Everyone seemed to have such a good time! The smiles in the photos tell us they were having a good time. I envy the host families for having a Thai student. Maybe we will be able to have one next time thou we do not have children living at home any more. The problem here is that it is through the children that many learning experiences take place. Some children are better at entertaining themselves than others no matter what culture they come from. From my own experience of being from a family of seven children that when we had a vistor from another country it opened another world for us to see. Some students fit into our family better than others yet we learned from them all. When teaching Home Alone for 18 years one of the things that I discovered is that many American children are bored when home alone. I have learned from this experience that children half way around the world get bored too, just not American children. Maybe we as adults do not let a child be a child, are we over protected to the point that the child expects us to do everything for them? Where do we draw the line? These are not easy questions to answer yet I think the children already know the answer. if anything I have learned from this exchange of two cultures is that we have many things in common and many things that are different. I would like to express to the Thai parents that sharing your children with us has been a very deep moving experience. Even at my age I am still learning. Thank you! Mrs. Carroll
