Today Patty and I went to Manitowoc to meet the Larson family for lunch. We stopped off at Walmart so Patty could develop her photos for her scrapbook and then we stuffed ourselves at Hong Kong Buffet. Yum!
It's springtime in Wisconsin, which means cold winds, cold rains, and dreary brown landscapes, but it also means beautiful spring flowers, budding trees and gradually warming days. Patty and I have been taking lots of pictures of flowers and trees. There's beauty here if you know where to look.
After lunch, Patty allowed me to go to the game shop and play Magic with other nerds. What a great girlfriend! I'm a very lucky guy! After that we went home to pick up Erng so we could take her to the fish boil at the Valders Fire Department. Every spring they boil some fish and serve it to people at the fire station. Since the fire department is mostly volunteer and not fully funded by the village, they need to do fund raisers like this to raise money to support their station. They had an old fire truck in the station, so Erng climbed up for some pictures. We ate boiled fish for dinner, which was pretty good, except for the big whole onion they put on top. I didn't eat that!
By the way, if you own a cell phone in America, you're getting robbed. Seriously, if Americans knew how cheap and convenient mobile phones were in Asia, they'd probably riot in the streets in front of the Verizion HQ. Anyway, I bought a super-cheap TracFone because it doesn't have a lengthy contract attached to it (unlike most American phones). The minutes are ridiculously expensive, but at least this way I have a means to contact people in an emergency. However, my phone looks like something out of the 1990's. I can't believe they still sell phones like this anymore. It's practically prehistoric!
Your flower looks nicer than mine!
